The ultimate Poppy guide
Discover all you need to know before starting your first trip or just as a reminder.
1. Park above ground
Always park your car above ground. If you park underground, the connection with the car will be lost. 💔 This ensures that you can no longer open or close the car and then we have to come by to get the car, which entails costs.
2. First 30 seconds are free
The first 30 seconds are completely free from the moment you open the car. 🤑 You can use these 30 seconds to properly adjust your mirrors and seat and to start your ride.
3. Close the car after getting out
Always check that all doors and windows are closed. If there is still an open window or open door (the trunk is also a door!), you cannot close the car correctly or put it in ‘Stopover’. ❌ Only click on ‘Stopover’ or ‘End trip’ after you have left the car and all the windows and doors are closed.
4. Let the vehicle wake up
Do you know that feeling in the morning where you want to stay in your bed? 😴 Our vehicles have that too! You often cannot open the vehicle immediately after you have reserved it. The application must first connect to the vehicle. This process can take a few minutes. Usually the vehicle is awake after one minute. From the moment that the ‘unlock icon’ to open the vehicle in your application is completely red (as red as the cancellation button), you can open the car and start your trip. 📲
5. 15 minutes reserved for you
When you reserve a vehicle, it’s reserved only for you for 15 minutes. ⏳ That means that other users cannot see the vehicle in their application and therefore cannot open it. If you have not opened the reserved vehicle within 15 minutes, the reservation will be canceled and the vehicle will be available again for other users. ⌛But don't forget that you can extend the reservation of your vehicle however this will be accompanied by additional costs depending on the duration of the reservation. How does it work? Reserve your car as usual, press the little button next to the 15 minute free timer and add the number of minutes you need.
6. Never share your account
You may never share your account with anyone else. 🚫 From the moment someone else drives with your account, that person is not insured and he/she will have to pay for all costs in the event of damage or an accident. Your account will be suspended immediately if we notice this!
7. Free parking at Interparking
No need to have a parking card anymore. Thanks to the license plate recognition, the barrier will open automatically for all Poppy cars. Easy right ?! ⚠ This only applies to the Interparking shown in our app with a 🅿️.
8. You can drive abroad
You can drive throughout Belgium with a Poppy, and driving abroad is now permitted. Note that a 25€ fee will be added to the invoice of your trip once you leave Belgium 🇧🇪 This fee allows us to keep delivering roadside assistance wherever you go. Allowed countries:
- Netherlands
- Luxembourg
- France
- Germany
9. Park for free at public parking spaces
With Poppy, you can park for free anywhere in public parking. Make no mistake with private parking. 🅿 If you park in private parking and you receive a fine, it is for you. Obviously, you are also not allowed to park in a parking space for the disabled. ♿ Check the map carefully before leaving your car to be sure you are in the Poppy zone. The street is dark grey? You can't park over there.
10. You can charge or refuel your Poppy car
Once you see the level of autonomy is low, don't hesitate to take action. Need to refuel or charge? It's so easy and you'll get 15 EXTRA credits for helping us 😍
Just go to one of the petrol pumps available on the application, follow the instructions and it's done! Now all you have to do is take advantage of your €10 credits! 🚀
